Alma de Luna

Luna Gomez grew up in a home that was traumatized by the tragic loss of her older sister, Alma, at age nine. The unresolved grief of Luna’s parents has informed Luna’s world view and orientation. This play seeks to explore her struggle with those issues in the context of her Mexican American family.
The following offering is divided into four parts:
1. An introductory interview with the cast and production team is provided to show how they shaped a new script into a living story. We are happy to honor the creativity of these theatre artists and technical professionals.
2. We want to make it easy for a broad audience to see this play. Not all people feel comfortable or safe when coming to a theatre. By providing a video on our website (and on YouTube), we can share this fable about grief and healing to those who would prefer to experience this story in their own homes, classrooms and communities.
3. Using beautiful music enhances our story and increases the pleasure of our audience. We are delighted to honor the musical performances of Willy Silva. His music adds to the Latino flavor of this play and beauty to the production. Also, his song performances during intermission delighted our audience. We are happy to share Willy’s work on our website (and on YouTube).
4. A copy of the script is provided for your reading pleasure. We welcome your comments.
In March of 2026, this play had its world-premiere at the HART Theatre in Hillsboro, OR.
